Mission

The mission of the Roar Foundation is to advance wildlife conservation and environmental protection by preserving threatened and endangered species and safeguarding their critical habitats worldwide. We aim to increase public awareness and scientific understanding of conservation challenges and solutions while advancing research and supporting effective conservation and education initiatives.

With a special focus on wild cats, the Roar Foundation protects nature through science, storytelling, and collaboration with local communities – creating real, lasting conservation impact.

Roar Foundation is led by Sebastian Kennerknecht and Rachel Tobias of Cat Expeditions and Dan Fletcher of Park Vibes.

Program Overview

The Roar Fund gives supporters the opportunity to invest in a comprehensive mission to protect wildlife and the wild places they depend on. Contributions are directed through a charitable framework that supports impact-driven storytelling, scientific education, and on-the-ground habitat protection designed to address the root causes of biodiversity loss.

At the core of our approach is a simple but critical truth: wildlife cannot survive without habitat, and habitat cannot survive without informed, engaged communities willing to defend it. Across the United States and around the world, the most threatened species are disproportionately found in regions where ecosystems are fragmented, where local communities lack the resources to steward the land, and where the public is disconnected from the natural systems that sustain us all. Awareness alone is not enough. To truly protect wildlife, we must reduce the pressures that drive species toward extinction in the first place.

The Roar Fund addresses this through a dual-impact model. On one side, we produce documentary films, photography, written reporting, and a regular newsletter that raise awareness, deepen scientific understanding, and shift cultural appreciation for wildlife and the landscapes they inhabit. These projects are supported by educational resources designed to equip the public, students, and conservation-minded supporters with the knowledge to recognize ecological principles, evaluate conservation models, and engage meaningfully in protecting the natural world. All storytelling is informed by consultation with wildlife scientists, field biologists, and conservation practitioners, and we actively create opportunities for these experts to contribute their voices and expertise to the work.

On the other side – and most importantly – we direct resources toward the preservation and protection of critical habitat for threatened and endangered species. Working in partnership with established conservation organizations and frontline local groups operating in biodiversity hotspots, we identify priority landscapes and provide the funding and visibility needed to secure them.

By supporting The Roar Fund are investing in a model that pairs rigorous educational media with direct habitat protection and community-led conservation grantmaking. Because the most effective way to protect wildlife is not only to document what is being lost, but to ensure that the habitats and communities sustaining these species are equipped to thrive for generations to come.
